Echeck 101

In its simplest term, an echeck is the electronic version of a paper check. It typically works the same way as that of a paper check except that echecks offer more features and is more secure.

Echecks are one of the most secure and convenient forms of payment transactions nowadays. It allows you to pay your bills online using your checking account. Your account's routing number and account number are used to draw funds from the account.


Electronic checks work in three simple ways:

Checks are written using one of many types of electronic devices and gives the echeck to the payee electronically
The payee deposits the echeck, receives credit and the bank clears the check
The paying bank validates the echeck and then charges the writer's account for the check

Developments for the use of echecks and for the number of companies who use it as a form of payment transactions is increasing in number. It is easy to use, secure, fast and reliable and it offers more room for leveraging multiple new technologies.
