3 Barriers To Success With Ecommerce

With the rise of the internet and more and more people are beginning to shop from home and ecommerce is going through a tremendous growth phase. People are beginning to buy products from the comfort of their homes. One of the big reasons for this is that most people first do research on what they intend to purchase. If they find a good deal while they are doing this research then they will purchase this immediately online while they are still hot.

However with the increase in ecommerce many entrepreneurs do not have that much experience with doing business this way. The following mistakes are very common:

1) Poorly designed website

This is one of the biggest mistakes that gets made. Usually the entrepreneur will hire a professional designer. Flashy graphics will be used and the pages will be extremely slow. Also the content will not be designed for search engines consequently the site will not receive free search engine traffic. However, usually the biggest mistake will be a poorly designed shopping cart that prospective buyers will abandon before making a purchase.

2) No clear marketing plan

With the increase in the number of web sites it is becoming more and more difficult to drive traffic to your web site with the fierce competition. An internet business requires a marketing expert to drive sufficient levels of traffic for it to be profitable. If nobody knows about your company then you will not make any sales.

3) Lack of a sales funnel

Very few people will actually buy from you the very first time that they see your web site. Most people require at least seven email contacts before they will decide to buy. It is very important to first capture the email addresses of prospects and first warm them up before you sell to them.
